Discovering the Dolomites

The Dolomites, located in northern Italy, are a group of mountains famous for their singular beauty. The landscape is dominated by sharp peaks and jagged ridges that rise above deep valleys and verdant meadows. These mountains take their name from the dolomitic limestone they are composed of, a rock that takes on pinkish hues at sunset, creating spectacular panoramas.

The peaks of the Dolomites offer breathtaking views of landscapes as far as the eye can see, where the contrast between sheer cliffs and expanses of greenery creates an atmosphere both wild and soothing. Deep-blue lakes nestle between the mountains, reflecting the sky and adding a touch of serenity to an already enchanting landscape.

The picturesque villages that dot the region add to its charm. Their thatched roofs and colorful facades blend harmoniously into the mountainous landscape, creating a warm, authentic atmosphere. The locals, attached to their traditions, perpetuate an art of living in harmony with nature, preserving the very essence of this unspoilt environment.

Our Travel Expert’s opinion:

“At the foot of the Vedrette di Ries peaks, Lake Anterselva closes the valley of the same name. We’re at 1642 meters, and here you can breathe in the pure mountain air. There’s a lovely, easy trail around the lake – where there’s also a deer reserve. I recommend that, just at the entrance to the lake, you stop for tea and a slice of cake at the Tiroler Hütte, a charming alpine-style hut.”
